LET THE CHILDREN PLAY

Writer's picture: Mama Theo.RiMama Theo.Ri

“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.” - Friedrich Fröbel

Letting children play outside and making time in every day to play outside is extremely important.

Aside from the obvious benefit of exercise and sun exposure that gives us Vitamin D, there are so many other benefits from outside play, that there is just no excuse to not force (if you have to) your children to play outside.

Here follows some of those benefits:

- Outdoor play develops a child’s creative thinking as they have to make plans as to what they can do to keep themselves busy. As they say, boredom always precedes a period of great creativity. - Executive functions, which are the skills that helps with planning, negotiating and multitasking, also develops a great deal when a child is left to their own devices. - While a child plays outside, he or she can see how the world around them works and learn how to keep themselves safe in that environment, which is a skill extremely necessary in today’s world. - When playing with friends, children also learn the necessary social skills needed to one day be a well-functioning, social, human. - As if you need more, playing outside can even boost your child’s self-confidence and help prevent short-sightedness and other eye problems that occur from prolonged screen time.

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly in play, children learn how to learn.”

So mamas, do your part, and help raise a healthy, high-functioning, responsible adult and chase those kids out!
