With all the resources and information available to us in today's modern world, why do we still find interest in old wives tales?
Pregnant and have heartburn? Your baby will have a full head of hair.
Want to know the gender of your baby before the ultrasound can pick it up? Just hang a ring on a string above your belly and see what it does...
Baby constipated? Give him or her some brown sugar water.
Crazy!
I am a firm believer that our ancestors knew what they were doing (mostly because the only way they could, was through trial and error), and that not everything they did was wrong or is outdated, especially the way they disciplined (that is a story for another day), but why in the world did old wives tales like these stick? Many a baby have been born with virtually no hair and the mother suffered with heartburn. There is no way a ring swinging can predict the gender of your baby, and in no uncertain term should you give a constipated baby sugar-water!
